Prepare for Your cOUNTERTOP

1.Before We Visit

Initial Measurement: Take rough measurements of your current space to get an estimate. Choose Material: Decide on material (quartz, granite, etc.) based on durability and lifestyle needs. Select Sink Type: Know if you are using an undermount or drop-in sink, as this impacts fabrication. Select Edge Profile: Choose your desired edge profile

2.What to Prepare

Make sure there is a clear path from your kitchen or bathroom to the nearest entrance to your home. Small children and pets should not be allowed in the area while the stone is being carried through your home. If a cooktop will be installed, covering nearby furniture and belongings is a good idea, as there will be dust.

3.What to Expect

Levelling & Securing: Cabinets must be level to support the heavy stone. Installers use shims to correct unevenness, epoxy (color-matched on-site) to seal seams, and blocks to secure the slabs to the cabinetry. On-Site Customization: Large cutouts for cooktops or holes for faucets are often finished on-site to prevent the stone from breaking during transport. This creates some dust, though installers typically clean as they go. Sink Installation: Undermount sinks are secured with clips and silicone. The silicone requires a 24-hour curing period before the plumbing and faucets can be fully connected and used.

4.Extra Notes

General Care for All Countertop Types. Daily Cleaning: Use a soft cloth, mild soap, and warm water. Spills: Clean immediately to prevent staining, especially on porous surfaces like stone. Protection: Use cutting boards for food prep and trivets for hot pans. Avoid: Harsh cleaners (ammonia, bleach), acidic solutions (vinegar), and abrasive pads.
