Care For Silestone® Leather™
Care & Maintenance Silestone® Leather™ texture
Silestone® Leather™ with Microban® is a premium choice for interior surfacing. It is an exclusive texture
that evokes a taste for the exotic.
Routine Care
Please be aware that Silestone® Leather™ requires more daily maintenance than other Silestone® products.
While Silestone® Leather™ is easily maintained, it does require more daily cleaning to maintain an even tone
on its surface. Because of the three-dimensional feel of its surface, daily living (such as fingerprints and
interaction with cooking utensils) show more on Silestone® Leather™ than on other Silestone® products. To keep it
looking like new, clean the surface often with soap and water or a mild, low-pH household cleaner.
Some colors may show wear more than others, however these are temporary signs of use. To clean these marks, as
well as common spills, we recommend: Formula 409®, Fantastik®, Windex®, Bon Ami®, or other cleaning products
containing vinegar.
As with other premium materials, such as wood flooring or leather products, consumers may use a conditioner to
bring out the richness of Silestone® Leather™ with Microban®. Although the conditioner is not necessary, it can be
used to heighten its color and luster. The use of a conditioner is purely temporary and will require either
repeat applications to maintain a consistent luster on the surface or thorough cleaning to remove it.
Like other Silestone® products, due to its non-porous nature, Silestone® Leather™ does not need to be sealed.
Difficult Spills or Stains
For stubborn stains or spills, soak the area with one of the cleaners mentioned above for up to 10 minutes and
gently clean away with a soft Scotch Brite® pad. Be sure to rinse off entirely and reapply conditioner if desired.
Common Use
The natural quartz in Silestone® makes it the toughest interior surface available on the market. It resists
scratching, staining and scorching better than any other natural stone or solid surface. Whereas a burning match
will not scorch the surface, hot items may cause thermal shock. As advised by crock pot and electric skillet
manufacturers, do not place these items directly on any countertop. Always use trivets when placing these and
any other hot items on your countertops.
Do avoid excessive force or pressure because that may damage the surface.
Chemicals to avoid
Caution: NO SURFACE IS INDESTRUCTIBLE. Although Silestone is one of the most durable materials on the countertop
market, be aware that some products may damage its surface. DO NOT USE HARSH CHEMICALS SUCH AS DRANO®, LIQUID
PLUMMER®, ANY OVEN CLEANER OR FLOOR STRIPPERS OR ADHESIVE REMOVERS ON ANY SILESTONE® SURFACE.
